Early in the morning, you will enjoy a good breakfast, then depart toward the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Our first stop will be in the town of Chinchero, where you will visit the archaeological site of Chinchero along with a unique textile tradition experience in the area. It is a great place to buy high-quality textiles.

Continuing the tour, we will head to the Maras Salt Mines and the Moray Agricultural Laboratory, two iconic places you cannot miss. The Maras Salt Mines feature more than 3,000 Inca salt pools, while Moray stands out for its concentric circular terraces that reveal the advanced Inca knowledge of microclimates and crop cultivation across Peru’s three regions: the coast, highlands, and jungle. Early in the morning, you will enjoy a good breakfast at the hotel, then have free time to further explore the town of Aguas Calientes. You may visit the butterfly sanctuary and the hot springs. You will also have time to have lunch on your own.

At the agreed time, proceed to the train station and board your train. You will travel from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo, a journey of approximately one hour and forty minutes. During this trip, you will enjoy a live show of traditional dances with colorful costumes, onboard service with drinks and snacks included, friendly assistance, and Andean details that will enhance your experience while traveling alongside impressive scenery.

Upon arrival in Ollantaytambo, we will continue our journey back to the city of Cusco. You may take the opportunity to visit some museums included in your General Tourist Ticket (BTG). At 6:30 p.m., traditional dance performances begin with a live show at the Centro Qosqo de Arte Nativo, which is also included in the ticket.

Afterwards, you will head to your respective hotel in Cusco.

At 4:00 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel to begin the journey to Rainbow Mountain. Our first stop will be in the town of Cusipata, where you will enjoy a good breakfast.

We will then continue to the starting point of the hike. The trekking time is approximately two hours, during which you will admire magnificent landscapes along the way until reaching the summit.

Rainbow Mountain, or Vinicunca, is a geological wonder in Peru that amazes visitors with its vibrant colorful stripes, formed by mineral sedimentation. Located in the Cusco region, this colorful formation offers a unique visual experience and an exciting challenge for trekking lovers. Reaching the summit of Rainbow Mountain is a truly transformative experience, offering breathtaking views surrounded by the majesty of the Andes.

The summit can also be reached by horseback, offering a more comfortable and elegant option, allowing you to enjoy the Andean scenery as you approach the top. After exploring the mountain, we will return to Cusipata to enjoy a good lunch. Finally, we will return to the city of Cusco, concluding our Rainbow Mountain tour.

Our first stop will be the Temple of Andahuaylillas, known as the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas.” It is a colonial church famous for its stunning interior, with Baroque frescoes, decorated ceilings, and artistic details that make it a unique cultural and architectural treasure on the continent.

We will then continue to the archaeological site of Raqchi in the southern valley of Cusco, which stands out for the Temple of Wiracocha, with its impressive adobe and stone walls. It is a testament to the architectural and religious greatness of the Inca civilization.

Along the route, we will stop for lunch, then continue the journey to Abra La Raya, located at over 4,300 meters above sea level. This impressive mountain pass marks the division between Cusco and Puno and offers spectacular views of the Andes, serving as a connection between the Altiplano and the Sacred Valley region.

Our final stop will be the Lithic Museum of Pucará. After visiting this site, we will continue the trip to the city of Puno, arriving around 6:00 p.m. This concludes our Route of the Sun tour. You will spend the night in Puno.
