Humantay Lake Full Day Hike

We will start the tour at 4:00 a.m. with hotel pick-up and a 2-hour drive to the town of Mollepata. There, we will stop for breakfast at a local restaurant. Then, we continue for another hour to Soraypampa. Once at the bus parking lot, we will begin our uphill hike to the famous Humantay Lake.

We’ll walk along a beautiful section of the Salkantay trail, mainly uphill. After a short hike, we’ll pass a small village often visited by Salkantay trekkers. We then ascend 387 meters over 3 kilometers on a steep path. After crossing the final moraine ridge, the turquoise-colored Humantay Lake appears before us, fed by meltwater from the impressive Humantay glacier.

On the way, we’ll enjoy magnificent views of the Salkantay snow-capped peak (6,300 m), one of the highest and most revered mountains in Cusco, and the Humantay mountain (5,900 m), visible for most of the hike.

Once at the lake’s shore, you’ll have time to relax, enjoy some snacks, and take a peaceful walk around this magical spot.

When ready, we descend back to Soraypampa, where we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch. Afterward, we return to Cusco by bus (approx. 2 hours) and drop you off at your hotel — this concludes our full-day tour.
