Day 01: Pisac Archaeological Site – Urubamba – Ollantaytambo – Chinchero
To begin this full-day tour, we will pick up travelers from their hotels and head toward the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Along the way, we will stop at the Taray Viewpoint (Mirador de Taray) to admire the stunning view of the Urubamba Valley, where widespread agricultural fields drape the mountains like vibrant carpets. Next, we will head to the Písac Archaeological Center to appreciate the largest agricultural terracing system in the Sacred Valley. You will also get to observe the Intihuatana (Sacred Sundial) and the Qolcas (Inca storage houses). This site is highly distinguished as a prominent religious and astronomical center from the Inca era. A visit to the Písac Artisan Market is optional. Afterward, we will continue to the town of Urubamba to enjoy a delicious lunch.
Following lunch, we will visit Ollantaytambo, a picturesque town built on Inca foundations featuring remarkable water channels, historic stone streets, and local people wearing colorful, traditional attire. Here, you will explore the impressive hillside fortress and the astonishing Temple of the Sun standing at its peak.
On our way back, we will make a brief stop to visit one of the famous weaving centers in Chinchero. This will be an excellent final opportunity to interact with the local people and learn the ancient techniques and processes used to create beautiful, handmade textiles from alpaca and llama wool. Afterward, we will continue our journey back to the city of Cusco.
